Subscriptions that end after a fixed number of payments
Limit a subscription to N billing cycles so it stops charging by itself, and decide whether the client may cancel before the last payment.
After these steps the subscription charges the client a fixed number of times and then ends on its own. There is no further charge and the client does not have to cancel anything.
Add a subscription price
Go to Checkouts (/checkouts), open the offer, switch to the Prices tab and click Add
price. Pick the Subscription card and fill in the Gross price and Billing period
(for example 1 month).
Limit the number of billing cycles
Switch on Limit the number of billing cycles ("The subscription ends automatically after a fixed number of payments instead of renewing forever."). Two controls appear:
- Number of payments, for example 3.
- Allow cancellation before the last payment, switched on by default.
The summary line at the bottom now includes Ends after 3 payments. With the toggle off none of this shows and the summary has no "Ends after" part.
Save the price and the offer
Click Save in the window. The new row is tagged Subscription, not Installments, and its small print reads ends after 3 payments. Click the offer's main Save button (top right). Re-opening the price shows the toggle on and the saved number of payments.
Check the public checkout
Copy the offer's public link and open it in a private window. The price is listed as Subscription with through 3 cycles next to the amount. The purchase completes like any subscription.
Good to know
Payments 2 and 3 go through as normal renewals, each recorded as an order tagged Renewal in
Transactions (/orders). After the last payment the subscription ends at the gateway, Zanfia
archives the client's access record, and access to the product (and to products bundled in its
plan) is removed. This is the difference from Installments via Stripe, where access stays
after the plan is paid in full.
Cancellation before the last payment
| Setting | Client can cancel from the client area | You can cancel |
|---|---|---|
| Allow cancellation before the last payment on | Yes, at any time; access runs to the end of the paid period | Always, from the product's Access tab |
| Allow cancellation before the last payment off | Only during a free trial; after the first paid cycle the commitment holds | Always, from the product's Access tab |
How to cancel on either side: Cancel or revoke a subscription.
Limited cycles versus installments
| Price | Charges | After the last charge | Row tag |
|---|---|---|---|
| Subscription with a limit | N automatic renewals | Subscription ends, access is removed | Subscription |
| Installments via Stripe | N automatic installments | Access continues; the client area shows "Paid in full" | Installments |
Both need Stripe with a stored card. The Installments via Stripe card notes it is "Not the Tpay / PayU bank installments - those run on a one-time payment."
