Audio lessons

Add a lesson that plays an audio file instead of a video, and learn what the client player does: speed, skipping, resuming and lock-screen controls.

An audio lesson is for recordings your clients listen to: a meditation, a podcast-style lecture, a language drill. When you finish, the lesson has an audio file and your clients get a player that remembers where they stopped.

1

Add an audio lesson

In the course editor (/courses/<productId>/lessons) choose Add → Audio lesson, or + Lesson → Audio lesson inside a module. An Untitled lesson is created and opened.

2

Upload the file

On the Audio tab you see "No audio yet. Upload an MP3 (or other audio file) for this lesson." Click Upload audio and choose the file, or click From media library to pick an audio file you uploaded before; the picker lists audio files only. A progress bar shows the upload, then a small player with the file size appears and the button changes to Replace audio.

3

Add the rest of the lesson

Type the title and the description. The Content tab holds text shown with the lesson, Attachments holds files to download, and Settings holds tags and drip. There is no Video tab on an audio lesson. The thumbnail next to the title is the cover in the client's player; square images (for example 1000×1000) work best.

4

Publish

Set the status pill next to the title to Published. In the outline the lesson carries a headphones icon.

What the client gets

In the playerBehavior
Cover and progress barThe lesson thumbnail (or a music-note icon), the elapsed and total time, and a bar the client can drag.
Back 15 seconds / Forward 15 secondsSkip buttons on both sides of the play button.
Playback speedCycles through 0.75×, 1×, 1.25×, 1.5×, 1.75× and 2×. The chosen speed is remembered in that browser.
ResumeThe position is saved to the client's account, so the lesson continues where they stopped, on any device.
Lock screenOn phones whose browser supports it, audio keeps playing with the screen locked and the lock screen shows the lesson title with play and pause.
CompletionListening to the end marks the lesson as completed; with Autoplay on, the next lesson opens.

Good to know

One audio file can be up to 4 GB; a larger one is refused with "[name] is larger than the 4 GB per-file limit." A file that is not audio is refused with "Please choose an audio file (e.g. MP3, M4A or WAV)." Audio counts toward your plan's storage: when the upload would exceed it, the editor shows how much is used and asks you to upgrade. The uploaded file also appears in Media (/media), where you can reuse it in other lessons. A locked or dripped audio lesson never sends the file to the client before it opens.
