Weekly digest

What the weekly community digest email contains, when it is sent, when it is skipped, and how you and your members turn it on or off.

The weekly digest is an email that brings members back: a summary of the past week in one community, sent automatically. It is on by default, so a new community needs no setup. This article explains what is in it and who controls it.

When it is sent

RuleDetail
ScheduleOnce a week, on Thursday at 09:00 (Europe/Warsaw time).
ScopeOne email per community. A member of two communities gets two digests.
PeriodThe last 7 days.
Quiet weeksA community with fewer than 3 new posts in the period sends no digest that week. Near-empty digests are never sent.
LanguageThe member's language.

What is in the email

The subject is "Your week in [community name]". The email contains, in this order:

PartContent
GreetingThe member's first name.
AI summaryA short AI-written paragraph about the week's discussions. Present only when AI summary in the digest is on.
StatsHow many new posts, comments and new members the week brought.
Top postsUp to 5 posts, the most discussed first, each with its author, channel, a short preview and comment and reaction counts.
Latest postsUp to 3 recent posts that are not already in the top list.
Upcoming eventsUp to 3 events from the next two weeks. The section is left out when nothing is scheduled.
Visit communityA button that opens the community feed.
Unsubscribe linkAt the very bottom.

Each post title links to exactly that post; the member may be asked to log in first.

Private channels stay private. The digest is built for what each member can read, so a post from a restricted or level-gated channel never appears in the email of someone without access, even when it was the most active post of the week.

Turn the digest on or off for the community

1

Open the Notifications tab

In the community editor go to Settings and open the Notifications tab (/communities/<productId>/editor/settings/notifications). Its description reads "Configure the emails and summaries your members receive".

2

Set the two switches

Weekly digest email sends or stops the digest for the whole community. AI summary in the digest adds or removes the AI-written opening paragraph; the rest of the email is unaffected. Both are on by default.

3

Save

Click Save. With Weekly digest email off, nobody in the community receives the digest, whatever their personal setting.

How a member opts out

WaySteps
In the communityAvatar → Profile → Notifications, untick Weekly digest ("A weekly summary of top posts, activity and upcoming events") and Save.
From the emailThe unsubscribe link at the bottom opens a confirmation page with one button. It works without logging in.

Both ways stop only the digest. Other community emails, such as a comment on the member's post, keep arriving. The digest exists as an email only; there is no in-app version of it.

Good to know

The digest is sent to members of the community, including you as the owner, so you see what your members see. There is no button to send it on demand and no way to edit its content by hand; what goes in is decided by the week's activity.
