Sign in and recover access
Sign in to Zanfia with Google, a password or a one-time emailed code, set a new password when you forgot the old one, and add or change a password in Settings.
You do not need a password to use Zanfia. An account is created with an emailed code or with Google, and you can always sign in with a one-time code sent to your login email. A password is optional. This article shows the three ways to sign in and how to get back in when you forgot your password.
Three ways to sign in
| Method | How it works | Needs |
|---|---|---|
| Continue with Google on the login page | A Google account with the same email | |
| Emailed code | Log in with a code instead; a 6-digit code arrives with the subject "Your Zanfia login code: [code]" | Access to your login email |
| Password | Log in with password | A password you set earlier |
All three lead to the same account, as long as the email address is the same. Signing in with Google and with the email code does not create two accounts.
Sign in with a code
Enter your email
Open https://app.zanfia.com/auth/login. On Log in to Zanfia type your email and click
Continue with email.
Ask for a code
The next screen says Logging in as [your email] and shows the password field. Click Log in with a code instead. If this browser remembers that you signed in with a code last time, this screen is skipped and the code is sent right away.
Type the code
On Verify your email type the 6 digits from the email; the form submits itself after the last digit and you land in the app. Resend code becomes available after 60 seconds. A wrong or old code shows "The verification code is invalid or has expired. Please try again."
Forgot your password
Start signing in
On the login page type your email and click Continue with email. On the password screen click the Set a new password link.
Enter the code
An email arrives with the subject "Your Zanfia password change code: [code]". Type the 6 digits on the code screen. If you did not ask for it, ignore the email; your password stays unchanged.
Choose the new password
The Set a new password form says "Choose a new password for [your email]." Fill in Password (at least 8 characters) and Confirm your password and click Save. You land in the app already signed in; there is no reset link to click and no second login.
Set or change a password in Settings
Open Settings → Login & security (/settings/security). An account without a password shows Set a password; an account with one shows Password with the button Change your password. The window asks for Current password (only when you already have one), New password ("At least 8 characters.") and Confirm new password; click Confirm.
If you signed in a while ago, the app asks you to prove it is you first: "For security reasons a password can only be set shortly after logging in. Confirm your identity with a code we will send to your email." Click Send code to email, type the code, and the password you entered is saved automatically.
Common problems
| Problem | What to do |
|---|---|
| No code in the inbox | Check spam and the spelling of the address, then use Resend code. "Please wait before requesting a new code." means you asked too soon. |
| "Incorrect email or password. Please check your details and try again." | Use Log in with a code instead or Set a new password. |
| "This account is protected by two-factor authentication. Sign in with your password instead." | Accounts with two-factor authentication cannot use the emailed code. Sign in with the password and the second factor. If you forgot the password, use Forgot your password? Send a reset link by email on that screen. |
| The password screen shows "Last time you signed in with Google." | Use the Continue with Google button shown there. |
| You no longer have access to your login email | You cannot receive codes. Contact support; see Get help and contact support. |
