Plans and prices

How pricing works on a product: one-time, subscription, recurring payment and installment prices, currencies, free checkouts, and tiers built with Add-ons & Plans.

A product is sold through its checkouts, and each checkout holds one or more prices. This article explains the price types you can add, the currencies, how a free checkout works, and how Add-ons & Plans turns one product into tiers.

Where prices live

Open the product and go to the Checkouts tab. Each row is one checkout; click it to open the checkout editor (/checkouts/<checkoutId>). Prices are managed in the editor's prices section with the Add price button. A product can have many checkouts, so you can run different price sets for different audiences (public, partners, a launch) without touching the product itself.

Payment gateway first

Paid prices need a connected payment gateway, for example Stripe or Przelewy24. Subscriptions and installments are charged from a stored card and require Stripe (subscriptions can also run on recurring BLIK through Tpay). Until a gateway is connected, the price types that need it are disabled and a paid checkout cannot go live.

Price types

When you click Add price the editor asks What kind of price are you adding?:

TypeHow the client paysAccess
One-time paymentA single charge, any gateway.Lifetime, a fixed duration counted from purchase, or a specific end date shared by every buyer (events, cohorts).
SubscriptionAuto-charged from a stored card (or recurring BLIK) every billing period: days, weeks or months. Optionally capped to a set number of cycles.Lasts while the subscription is active. You can allow the client to cancel.
Recurring paymentA fresh payment link each cycle; the client pays by hand, with any payment method. Stripe is not required. One billing period per payment; the client receives a link to extend before it ends.
Installments via StripeA fixed number of automatic charges from a stored card. This is not the bank installment option that Tpay or PayU may show on a one-time payment.Set on the price, like a one-time payment.

Digital downloads accept One-time payment only.

Every price also has:

  • Currency: PLN, EUR, USD or GBP. Each price has its own currency, so one checkout can list a PLN price and a EUR price side by side.
  • Plan: on a product with tiers, which plan this price sells (see below).
  • Access and the end-of-access behavior: what the client is offered when a limited access period ends (nothing, the same price again, a chosen renewal price or the product's current prices). The same options exist when you grant access by hand; see Grant access manually.
  • Optional extras in the price row: a promo "price before", a time or quantity limit, an additional note, quantity purchase.

Free checkouts

A checkout without any prices is free: clients sign up with their email and get access immediately. On the Checkouts tab use Add free checkout; the product then shows Free in the products list. Free checkouts do not need a payment gateway and can be embedded as signup forms. A product can have both free and paid checkouts at the same time.

Tiers with Add-ons & Plans

The Add-ons & Plans tab of a product does two things.

1

Bundle other products into this one

Click Add product and pick another published product, for example a community bundled with a course. Every buyer of this product also gets access to the products listed here; the product itself is shown at the top as Always included.

2

Sell as multiple tiers

Click Sell as multiple tiers. The product gets plan cards (the first is the default) that you can rename in place, reorder by dragging, and manage from the ⋮ menu (Set as default, Deactivate, Delete plan). Each plan carries its own set of add-ons, so Basic can be the course alone and Pro the course plus the community. Customers who already bought stay on the default plan.

3

Price each plan

In the checkout editor, set the Plan field on every price. The public checkout shows the plan name and what it includes next to each price; picking a price is picking a plan. A price can also be marked as an Upgrade offer from plan, which is only shown to clients on the lower plan.

The Access tab then shows a Plan column per client, and a client's plan can be changed by hand from their detail page (Change plan). Removing a product from a plan takes effect for everyone on that plan: the confirmation warns that customers will no longer get access to this product through the plan. A plan that active prices still sell cannot be deleted; move or deactivate those prices first.

Good to know

Access to bundled products is granted through the parent product. If you later delete a product that is included in another product's plan, Zanfia refuses until you remove it from that plan; see Delete a product.
