Generate a quiz with AI
Have AI draft a quiz from the transcript of one video lesson, a whole module or the whole course, then review it like any quiz you wrote yourself.
The AI quiz writes questions from what you actually say in your videos. When you finish, a draft quiz sits in the course, ready for you to check and publish. The source videos must be transcribed first; see Transcripts, chapters and moments.
Open the AI quiz window
In the course editor (/courses/<productId>/lessons) use any of the three entry points: AI
quiz at the end of a module's + Lesson menu, Add → AI quiz in the top bar, or the
lightning button (AI tools) → AI quiz from your lessons…. The window AI quiz from your
lessons opens.
Choose what the quiz covers
Under Based on pick One lesson, Whole module or Whole course.
| Scope | What you pick | Number of questions |
|---|---|---|
| One lesson | A Video lesson from the list, grouped by module | 3, 5, 7 or 10 (5 preset) |
| Whole module | A Module; modules without video lessons are not listed | 5, 10, 15 or 20 (10 preset) |
| Whole course | Nothing; the quiz is "a final exam drawn from all … video lessons of the course" | 5, 10, 15 or 20 (10 preset) |
Generate
Click Generate quiz. After a moment (a whole module or course takes longer) you see "Draft quiz [title] created with 5 questions." and the editor opens the new quiz. The count can be lower than you asked for, because questions that fail validation are dropped instead of shown.
Review and publish
The quiz is a Draft, so students do not see it yet. On the Questions tab each question shows where it came from, for example "From 12:34" with a quote from the transcript. Edit, delete, reorder or add questions, set the rules in Quiz settings, then publish. Everything in Quizzes applies.
Where the draft lands
| Scope | Position of the new quiz |
|---|---|
| One lesson | Right after the source video lesson. |
| Whole module | After the last transcribed video lesson of the module. |
| Whole course | After the last transcribed video lesson of the course. |
The shortcut on a lesson
A video lesson with a finished transcript shows Turn this lesson into a quiz on its Transcription tab. Generate quiz there creates a quiz from that one lesson without opening the window.
Good to know
Generation uses your AI credits. Lessons without a transcript are skipped in module and course scope; choosing a single lesson without a transcript fails with a message that the video has to be transcribed first, and no lesson is created. A course with no video lessons shows "This course has no video lessons yet. Add a video lesson first." External video lessons, audio and text lessons are not used as sources.
