Send an email campaign

Create a campaign from a template, write and test it, choose the audience and sender, then send it now or schedule it for later.

An email campaign is a one-off message to your subscribed clients or to a segment of them. When you finish these steps, the campaign is sending or scheduled and its report is open.

Plan

Email campaigns are available on Growth and above, and not during the free trial. On other plans the page shows an upgrade block.

Create and send

1

Open Email campaigns

In the sidebar open Marketing → Email campaigns (/marketing/broadcasts) and click New campaign. On a fresh account the list is replaced by a single New campaign card.

2

Choose a template

The page Choose a template for your campaign (/marketing/broadcasts/new) offers Blank, Announcement, Newsletter issue, Product launch, Re-engagement and Your own HTML. Click Use this template. You can also pick a campaign under Or duplicate an existing campaign. The editor opens with two steps at the top: Content and Send.

3

Write the content

Click the campaign name in the top bar to rename it (it is internal, recipients never see it). Fill in Subject, optionally Preheader (inbox preview text), and write the email on the white sheet. Under Personalization click a chip such as {{firstName}} to copy it and paste it into the text; a fallback is written as {{firstName|friend}}. There is no Save button: the indicator shows Saving… and then Saved after every change.

4

Preview and send a test

Open the Test menu. Preview shows the finished email with its footer. Send test opens Send a test email, pre-filled with your own address; you can enter up to 3 addresses separated by commas. The test arrives with a subject starting with [Test], and its unsubscribe link is inactive.

5

Choose recipients and sender

Click Next. In Recipients choose All subscribed or one of your segments in Audience; New segment… at the bottom of the list creates one in place. The number of recipients appears below. In Sender set Sender name, optionally Reply-to, and, when you have a verified sending domain, the From address. The Sender address (email footer) field holds your postal address and is required: without it the send button stays off.

6

Pick the send time

In Send time choose Send now or Schedule for later and pick a date and time. A scheduled time must be at least 5 minutes from now and within 30 days. The time zone used is shown under the picker.

7

Read the checklist and send

Before you send shows green ticks for subject, content and sender, and warnings such as No preheader, No test email sent or Copy still contains [PLACEHOLDERS]. Warnings do not block sending; only a missing subject, content or sender does. Click Send to N recipients (or Schedule) and confirm Send this campaign now?. The editor is replaced by the campaign report.

What recipients get

Each recipient gets the email with their own data in place of the personalization chips, your sender name, and a footer with the address the email was sent to, an unsubscribe link and your postal address. With All subscribed the send goes only to clients who are Subscribed at the moment of sending; with a segment it goes to everyone in the segment except Unsubscribed and Pending confirmation clients. The audience is resolved again when the send starts, so the final number can differ slightly from the estimate. If several client records share one email address, the campaign goes to that address once.

After sending

You want toDo this
Take back a scheduled campaignRow menu or the campaign page → Unschedule. It returns to Draft and is not sent until you schedule it again.
Stop a campaign that is being sentStop campaign. Recipients who already got it keep it; the status becomes Cancelled and the rest are not mailed.
Continue a campaign that failedResume sending on a Failed campaign continues with the remaining recipients. Nobody who already received it gets it again.
Send the same content againDuplicate creates a draft copy with the same content, sender and audience.
Change the internal nameRename. It works in every status.
Delete a campaignDelete is offered only for drafts, cancelled and failed campaigns.

A sent campaign opens as a report and can no longer be edited.

Good to know

The Measure opens and clicks switch in the Measurement card decides whether links are tracked. Switch it off for a plain send with untouched links; the report then shows no opens or clicks, and link actions do not run. If the campaign is larger than what is left of your monthly email allowance, it is refused before it starts, with the numbers and the reset date.
