Change a client's email address
Move a client to a new email address from their profile: what changes in Zanfia, what stays in connected tools, and what to do when the new address is already taken.
A client bought with a typo in their address, or wants to use a different mailbox. You can move them to the new address yourself: their product access, orders and login follow, and they sign in with the new address from then on.
This is about your clients, not your own login
To change the email you use to sign in to Zanfia as a creator, go to Settings → Account and use Change email in the Login email card. That flow is described in Change your login email.
Open the client's profile
In Customers → All customers (/customers) find the client and open their profile. Choose
Actions → Change email, or click the pencil next to Email on the Profile tab.
Enter the new address
The Change email window shows the Current email and asks for the New email. An empty field is refused with "Enter the new email address.", a malformed one with "Enter a valid email address.", and the same address with "The new email is the same as the current one."
Decide about the notification
Notify the customer by email is on by default: it sends "a message to the new address with a sign-in link." Turn it off to change the address silently. Either way, "Their login moves to the new email."
Save
Click Save. You see "Email changed. N product grant(s) updated." and the profile shows the new address. The old one is kept on the Profile tab under Previous.
What changes and what does not
| Changes with the address | Stays on the old address until you change it there |
|---|---|
| The client's login: they sign in with the new address | Your connected email marketing tool |
| Every product access of this client | Discord |
| Their orders in Transactions | Circle |
| The customer record in Stripe | Other connected integrations |
The window states it the same way: "This updates the customer in Zanfia: product access, login, orders and Stripe. Email tools, Discord, Circle and other integrations keep the old address - update them there."
When the new address is already taken
If another client in your list already uses the new address, the change is refused with a message that the email already belongs to a different client, and nothing is changed. Two records for one person are solved by merging them: open either profile and use Merge customers, see Merge or delete a client.
Good to know
When emails to a client bounce, the banner at the top of their profile offers Fix email address (the same window) and, after the fix, Resend access email, so the client gets the message they missed. In Customers → History, a bounced or failed email links straight to the profile with Fix address on profile. Emails already sent stay listed under the address they were sent to.
