The "Ask the course" AI tutor

Give clients an AI tutor inside the course player that answers their questions from your lessons and points to the video moments it used.

"Ask the course" adds a chat tab to every lesson of a course. A client types a question and the AI answers from that course's materials: the transcripts of your videos and the content of your lessons. It is off by default and you switch it on per course.

1

Prepare the course

The tutor can only use what it can read. Transcribe your video lessons first, see Transcripts, chapters and moments; text in the Content tab of lessons is used as well. External videos have no transcript and add nothing.

2

Switch it on

Open the course and click the Settings tab. In the AI features section, "AI helpers available to customers of this course", turn on "Ask the course" AI assistant and save.

3

Check it as a student

Open a lesson in the course player. Next to Lesson description and Notes there is now the tab Ask the course. Ask something the course teaches and check the answer and its sources.

What the client sees

ElementText or behavior
Disclosure"Answers are AI-generated from this course's materials."
Empty stateAsk anything about this course, with a hint that the tutor answers from the lessons and shows where in the videos each topic is covered.
AskingA text box ("Ask a question about the course…") and Send. While the answer is prepared the chat shows Thinking….
AnswerIn the language of the question, followed by Sources: with the lesson name and the time in the video, for example "Lesson name · 12:34".
Follow-up questionsThe chat keeps the thread while the client stays on the page, so "can you give an example of that?" is understood.

What the tutor refuses

QuestionResponse
A topic the course does not cover"I couldn't find this in the course materials. Try asking differently or about a specific lesson."
Refunds, billing and similar personal matters"This looks like something the course creator should handle personally. Please contact them directly."
Too many questions in a short time"You're asking very quickly. Give it a moment and try again."

The tutor does not invent answers: when the course materials do not contain the answer, it says so.

Good to know

Answers use the AI credits of your account, not anything on the client's side. When your credits run out, the tutor stops answering until you have credits again. Only clients with access to the course can ask, and each client is limited in how many questions they can send per hour and per day. For credits see AI credits.
