Write and publish a social post

Write one post, pick the connected accounts, add images or a video, check that every network is ready and publish to Instagram, Facebook Pages, LinkedIn and Telegram at once.

The composer in Social media writes one post and sends it to every account you select. When you finish, your post will be live on the chosen networks, with a link to each published copy. You need at least one connected account first: see Connect social media accounts.

Publish a post

1

Open the composer

Go to Marketing → Social media (/marketing/social). The page opens on Publish with the New post card on the left and the Preview on the right. With no account connected you see "No social accounts connected yet." and a Connect accounts button instead.

2

Choose where to publish

Under Publish to, every connected account is a chip. Click a chip to select or deselect it; Select all and Unselect all switch all of them. Facebook Pages are grouped in one chip where you tick the individual Pages. The line at the bottom of the card confirms the count, for example Publishing to 2 accounts.

3

Write the text

Type into the text box ("Write your post, add a photo or a video…"). The preview updates as you type, and paragraphs are kept as you wrote them.

4

Add media

Click Add media to open Choose media with your media library, or drop image files straight onto the card. A feed post can hold up to 10 items; with two or more, Instagram publishes a carousel. Each thumbnail has an ✕ to remove it.

5

Check the readiness rows

Below the text, each selected network has a row. ✓ Ready means the post can go out there; otherwise the row says what is missing, for example "add a photo or video" for Instagram or "add text or an image" for LinkedIn. The row also counts characters, for example "text 42 / 3000". Publish now stays inactive until every selected network is ready.

6

Publish

Click Publish now. Each account gets a status row: Publishing…, then Published with a View post link that opens the live post. When everything is published the composer empties itself. If one account fails, its row shows the reason and your text and media stay in place so you can fix the problem and try again.

What each network accepts

NetworkContentLimits shown in the composer
InstagramAlways needs a photo or a video. Feed post, carousel, Story, Reel.Caption up to 2200 characters. Feed images between 4:5 and 1.91:1, at least 320 px wide.
Facebook PagesText, images, or both.Video is not published here.
LinkedInText, images, or both.Counter of 3000 characters. Video is not published here.
TelegramText, images, or both.Text up to 4096 characters; with images the caption is capped at 1024 characters. Video is not published here.

Stories, Reels and video

The switch Feed post / Story / Reel at the top of the composer controls the Instagram format. Story and Reel are available only when Instagram is the only selected account; with other accounts selected they are greyed out with the hint "Available when only Instagram is selected". A Story has no caption ("Stories don't support captions."), a Reel needs a video, and both take a single file. Video in a feed post also requires Instagram to be the only target; the composer reminds you: "Cross-posting publishes a feed post with image(s). For Instagram Stories, Reels or video, select only Instagram."

Good to know

The composer saves what you are writing in this browser as you go, so switching tabs or reloading the page does not lose the post. To keep a post for later on any device, use Save draft; see Schedule posts and track results. If a published post has to come down, delete it on the network itself; for LinkedIn you can also use Delete from LinkedIn in the post history.

When publishing fails

MessageWhat to do
"This account is no longer connected. Reconnect it in the Accounts tab and publish again."Open Accounts, reconnect the account and publish again.
"This network needs an image or video for this post."Add media, or deselect that network.
"The network rejected the media" or "The network could not process the media"Use a different file; check the format and size rules of that network.
"The network did not finish processing the media in time. Check the account and publish again."Look at the account first, because the post may have appeared; then retry.
