Send a newsletter issue
Write a post in the archive editor of a newsletter product and send it by email to everyone with access to that newsletter, now or on a schedule.
A newsletter is a product: people sign up for it (free) or buy it (paid), and each issue you send is also kept in the product's archive. When you finish these steps, one issue is sent to your subscribers and published in the archive.
Sending issues from Zanfia is included in every plan and does not count toward your monthly email allowance.
How it differs from an email campaign
| Newsletter issue | Email campaign | |
|---|---|---|
| Recipients | Everyone with active access to this newsletter product | Clients with the Subscribed status, or a segment |
| Where you write | The archive editor of the product | Marketing → Email campaigns |
| Unsubscribe | Leaves this newsletter only | Leaves all your campaigns |
| After sending | The post is published in the archive | A report in the campaigns list |
| Plan | Every plan | Growth and above |
Issues do not appear in the Email campaigns list.
Send an issue
Open the newsletter product
In the sidebar open Products → Newsletters (/newsletters) and open your newsletter. On the
Newsletter tab click Open archive editor. The editor opens full screen at
/newsletters/<productId>/archive.
Check that issues are sent from Zanfia
The gear on the Newsletter tab (Archive settings) opens the settings window. Choose the Sending section: the option Send issues must be From Zanfia. Here you can also set the Sender name and Replies go to; empty fields use your workspace name and contact email. A newsletter set to From my own email platform only adds subscribers to a list in your mailing tool and imports your sends into the archive; use Send from Zanfia instead to switch.
Write the post
Click New post, type the title and write the content. The draft saves by itself (Draft saved). The audience control above the post decides who can read it in the archive: Hidden, Subscribers only, Public or Public - locked.
Send to subscribers
Click Send to subscribers. The window shows the recipient count, for example "Goes to 128 subscribers.", and two modes: Send now and Schedule for later (between 5 minutes and 30 days from now). Confirm with Send now or Schedule. A post needs a title and some content, and the newsletter needs at least one subscriber.
Follow the delivery
The post gets a tag: Queued, Scheduled [date], Sending… and finally Sent to N. Clicking the tag opens Delivery with Recipients, Delivered, Opened, Clicked, Bounced and Unsubscribed. Opens are an estimate, because some mail apps hide them.
What happens next
Sending also publishes the post in the archive with your default visibility. Subscribers get the issue by email with a footer link that lets them leave this newsletter; leaving does not unsubscribe them from your campaigns.
| You want to | Do this |
|---|---|
| Cancel a scheduled send | Cancel send. The post stays as it is and can be sent again any time. |
| Stop a send in progress | Stop. Subscribers who already received the email keep it; the rest will not get it. |
| Send the post once more | Send again. |
| Publish without emailing | Publish puts the post in the archive and sends nothing. |
Good to know
A post that is a copy of an email imported from another mailing tool shows "Convert this e-mail to an article to send it from Zanfia." Use Convert to editable article first; converting never deletes the original email. People who receive an issue are those with access at the moment of sending, so a subscriber whose paid access has ended is not mailed.
