Schedule a post

Write a community post now and have it publish itself at a time you choose, then preview, edit, reschedule or cancel it before it goes out.

A scheduled post waits out of sight and appears in the community by itself at the chosen time. When you finish, the post sits in your Scheduled posts panel until it publishes.

Who can schedule

Scheduling is for the community owner, admins and custom roles with the Manage community permission. Other members do not see the switch, the panel or the waiting posts.

1

Start a new post

Open the community and click Add new post in a channel or on the feed, then write the post as usual (Write a post). Under the toolbar you see two switches on their own rows: Notify all members and Schedule for later.

2

Turn on Schedule for later

A date-and-time field appears next to the switch, pre-filled with the next full hour, in your own time zone. The blue button changes from Publish to Schedule post, and Notify all members turns gray: a scheduled post cannot send an announcement at the moment of scheduling.

3

Pick the time

Choose a moment at least one minute ahead. An earlier time shows Pick a time at least a minute from now and disables the button.

4

Schedule it

Click Schedule post. You see Post scheduled, the editor closes, and the post does not appear in the feed. A Scheduled posts panel appears above the posts with the title, Publishes and the date and time.

Manage a waiting post

Every row of the Scheduled posts panel offers the same actions:

ActionWhat happens
Click the titleOpens a preview with the full formatted text and the publish time, plus Close and Edit.
EditOpens the post editor. Save updates the text; the post stays scheduled.
Change timeOpens Change publish time with the current time. Pick a new one and click Save new time; you see Publish time updated.
CancelAsks Cancel this scheduled post? "The post will be removed and will not be published." Confirm with Cancel post or go back with Keep schedule.

In a channel the panel lists the posts waiting for that channel. On the feed it lists all of them and adds the channel name after the publish time. The panel disappears when nothing is waiting.

What happens at the scheduled time

The post publishes by itself and appears at the top of the feed for everyone; a member with the page open may need to reload if it does not show up within a minute. Members get the usual new-post notification, in the bell and by email for those who turned on email for new posts. The post leaves the Scheduled posts panel.

Good to know

To announce a scheduled post to every member, wait until it is live, then open its ⋮ menu and choose Notify all members…. Scheduling is offered for new posts only; an already published post cannot be moved into the future.
