Quizzes
Add a quiz lesson, write questions of four types, set the passing score, attempt and time limits, and read the results of your students.
A quiz is a lesson made of questions. It can be a graded test with a passing score or a practice quiz with no pass or fail. When you finish, the quiz is published, and you know where to read the results.
Create a quiz
Add a quiz lesson
In the course editor (/courses/<productId>/lessons) choose Add → Quiz, or + Lesson → Quiz
in a module. The lesson opens on the Questions tab. A quiz has no Content or
Attachments tab; the client sees the quiz itself.
Add questions
Click Add question, choose the Question type, write the Question, mark the correct answer and click Save question. Optionally set Points (1 by default) and an Explanation (shown after answering). Drag questions to reorder them; each row can be edited or deleted.
Set the rules
Open Quiz settings, fill in what you need (see the table below) and click Save. The summary line shows Passing score, Attempts, Questions and Total points.
Check it and publish
Preview shows the quiz the way a student takes it. When it looks right, set the status pill to Published. A quiz with no questions cannot be published.
Question types
| Type | How you mark the answer |
|---|---|
| Single choice | At least two options; tick the circle next to the one correct answer. |
| Multiple choice | At least two options; tick the box next to each correct answer. |
| True / False | Choose True or False as the Correct answer. |
| Text answer | List the Accepted answers, pressing Enter after each. Any of them counts, and spelling variants such as "3.14" and "3,14" match. Case-sensitive matching is optional. |
Quiz settings
| Setting | Effect |
|---|---|
| Passing score (%) | The share of points needed to pass. Leave it empty for a practice quiz with no pass or fail. |
| Attempt limit | How many times a student may take the quiz. Empty means unlimited. |
| Time limit (minutes) | Empty means no time limit. |
| Shuffle questions | Each attempt shows the questions in a random order. |
| Shuffle answer options | Each attempt shows the options in a random order. |
| Show correct answers after submission | The result screen shows the correct answer next to the student's own. |
| Require passing to unlock further lessons | Everything after the quiz stays locked until the student passes. Needs a passing score. See Lesson statuses and drip. |
What the student sees
The lesson opens with an intro card listing the number of questions and points, the passing score, the attempt limit and the time limit, and the Start quiz button. Questions come one at a time with Previous and Next; Submit asks for confirmation and warns about unanswered questions. The result is Passed or Not this time with the score, and Retry is offered while attempts remain. A student who used every attempt sees "No attempts remaining. Ask your instructor to reset your attempts."
Answers are checked on the server. The correct answers are never sent to the student's browser before they submit.
Read the results
The Statistics tab of the quiz shows Attempts, Students, Average score and Pass rate, a table of every attempt (student, attempt number, score, result, date) and Question analysis with the share of correct answers per question, which shows you which question is too hard or unclear.
To let a student start over, click Reset attempts in their row and confirm. "Their quiz result is cleared and pass gates re-engage", so lessons that the quiz had unlocked lock again until they pass.
Good to know
Export CSV on the Questions tab downloads the questions with their answers, explanations, points and source (AI or added manually). A graded quiz must be passed before the course counts as completed, whatever completion threshold you set; a practice quiz only needs one finished attempt. Quiz results per course are also in Course analytics.
