Campaign reports and link actions

Campaign statuses, what each number in the report means, how revenue is attributed to a campaign, and how to tag a recipient or start a workflow when they click a link.

After a campaign is sent, opening it shows a report instead of the editor. The report has two views, E-mail (the content as it was sent) and Statistics. This article explains the statuses, the numbers and the actions a link can trigger.

Campaign statuses

StatusMeaning
DraftBeing written. Can be edited, sent, scheduled or deleted.
ScheduledWaiting for its send time. Unschedule returns it to Draft.
Starting the sendYou confirmed Send now; the counters appear in a moment and the view refreshes on its own.
SendingEmails are going out. The report shows progress, for example "120 of 544 sent". Stop campaign ends it.
SentFinished. The content can no longer be edited; Duplicate reuses it.
CancelledStopped by you. Recipients who had not been mailed yet do not get it. Can be duplicated or deleted.
FailedThe send could not finish. Resume sending continues with the remaining recipients without mailing anyone twice.

During a large send you may see "Sending paused until [time] - the platform reached its daily sending limit; it resumes on its own." Nothing needs to be done; the campaign continues by itself.

The list at /marketing/broadcasts filters by All, Draft, Scheduled and Sent, sorts among others by Most delivered, and shows Delivered N/N under the date of every campaign that left the draft stage.

Delivery numbers

NumberMeaning
RecipientsPeople in the audience when the send started.
SentEmails handed over for delivery.
DeliveredEmails the recipient's mail server confirmed.
Being deliveredAccepted for sending but not confirmed yet. Large providers slow down senders they do not know; delivery is retried for several hours.
BouncedRejected by the recipient's mail server.
ComplaintsRecipients who marked the email as spam.
Skipped (suppressed)Addresses blocked after an earlier bounce or complaint.
Skipped (unsubscribed)Recipients who unsubscribed from this type of email.
Skipped (same address)Several client records shared one email address; the campaign went to that address once.
FailedEmails that could not be sent because of a technical error.
UnsubscribedRecipients who unsubscribed using the link in this campaign.

The Recipients table lists every recipient with a status: Pending, Sent, Delivered, Clicked, Bounced, Complaint, Unsubscribed, Skipped (suppressed), Skipped (unsubscribed) or Failed. Pick a status in the delivery table and use Show these recipients to filter the list.

Engagement and revenue

Engagement is shown when Measure opens and clicks was on for the campaign.

NumberMeaning
Tracked recipientsRecipients who can be measured. People who opted out of measurement on the unsubscribe page are never measured.
Open rate (est.), Unique opens (est.)An estimate: Apple Mail proxy fetches are filtered out and other mail apps may block images.
Click rate, Unique clicks, ClicksClicks on links in the email. Rates are computed against the tracked recipients.
Attributed revenue, Attributed ordersPaid orders placed within 5 days after a tracked click. If a client clicked several campaigns, the last click wins.

The Links table lists each link with Unique clicks, Clicks and Last click; Who clicked opens the list of people with their first click and click count.

A link action does something for the recipient at the moment they click a link in the campaign.

1

Select the link

In the campaign editor, step Content, click a link or a button in the email and use the bolt icon, Link actions.

2

Add actions

Under When a recipient clicks click Add action and choose Add tag, Remove tag or Add to workflow, then pick the tags or workflows. A tag cannot be both added and removed by the same link.

3

Check the send step

The Before you send checklist summarizes how many links run actions. If Measure opens and clicks is off, it warns Link actions will not run, because clicks are not observed.

Tags are added or removed first; then each chosen workflow starts for the recipient from its first step, regardless of its trigger, once per link (a second click does not start it again). Only active workflows start, and only measured recipients count.

LimitValue
Links with actions per campaign50
Tags added or removed per link20
Workflows started per link5

Good to know

A campaign imported from another mailing tool is marked Imported from [provider]. Its numbers are the results reported by that tool; per-recipient details were not transferred. Use Duplicate to reuse its content.
