Community events
Add events to a community calendar, set their time, type and location, cancel or restore them, and see what members get on their Calendar tab.
Events give a community a rhythm: a weekly call, a workshop, a meetup. When you finish, your event is on the calendar every member sees, with a join link or an address and a one-click way to add it to their own calendar.
Add an event
Open Events
In the community editor open Events (/communities/<productId>/editor/events). The screen
opens in the Calendar view with the hint "Click a day to add an event. Click an event to edit
it." The switch in the corner changes to the List view.
Start the event
Click a day for a quick entry: type a title into Add title and Save, or click More options for the full form. The Add event button opens the full form directly.
Set what and when
Title is required. Event type is one of Live call, Workshop, Meetup, Conference, Retreat or Other. For a timed event set Date, Start time and End time; the form shows the Duration and notes Ends the next day when the end is past midnight. Tick All day to pick a range of Dates instead; an event can span at most 31 days.
Set where
Under Location choose Online and paste the Join link (for example a Zoom address), or In person and type the Address. Description tells members what the event is about.
Save
Click Save. The event appears on the calendar and, when it is the nearest one, on the Next event tile of the editor's Overview.
Change, cancel or delete
| Action | How | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Edit | Click the event on the calendar, or the pencil in the list | Opens Edit event. |
| Cancel event | The button in the List view | Asks "Cancel this event? Members will see it as cancelled." The status turns Cancelled. |
| Restore | The same button on a cancelled event | The status returns to Scheduled. |
| Delete event | The trash button | Asks "Delete this event permanently?" The event disappears for everyone. |
Cancelling keeps the event visible with a Cancelled mark, which is the better choice when members already planned for it. Deleting is for mistakes.
What members see
| Place | Content |
|---|---|
| Calendar tab | A month view with the events, a list of Upcoming this month, and Past events. |
| Event details | Online or In person with the address, a Join event button for online events, Google Calendar and Download .ics. |
| Right column of the feed | Upcoming: the next events, next to the leaderboard. |
| Weekly digest | Upcoming events from the next two weeks (Weekly digest). |
Guests of a public community see the Calendar tab, but opening it asks them to join first.
Good to know
The whole section can be switched off: in Settings → Access & features turn off Events (calendar). The Calendar tab and the upcoming events disappear for members, the events themselves are kept, and everything comes back when you turn the switch on again.
