Send from your own domain

Add a sending domain, publish its DNS records and verify it, so campaigns and, if you choose, system emails leave from your own address instead of the Zanfia one.

A verified sending domain lets you send campaigns from an address such as newsletter@yourdomain.com instead of the shared Zanfia address. When you finish, the domain shows the green Verified tag and its address can be picked as the From address of a campaign.

Plan

Your own sending domain is part of email campaigns: Growth and above, not available during the free trial.

Add and verify a domain

1

Open Your sending domain

Go to Your site → Settings → Domains (/site/address) and scroll to Your sending domain. The same panel opens from Marketing → Email campaigns (/marketing/broadcasts): click the cog next to New campaign and choose Your sending domain. You will need access to your domain's DNS settings.

2

Type the sender address

In Sender address type the full address campaigns should come from, for example newsletter@mail.yourdomain.com, and click Add domain. Zanfia verifies the whole domain, so the address does not have to be an existing mailbox, and each campaign can later use a different address on the same domain.

3

Publish the DNS records

The domain appears with the tag Waiting for DNS and a table of records with the columns Type, Name (host) and Value, each with a copy button. Add every record at your domain provider. One of them is the ownership TXT record named _zanfia-verify; add it together with the others. The DMARC record is marked recommended: it is not required for verification, but Gmail and Yahoo require a DMARC policy on domains that send in volume.

4

Check the status

Wait a few minutes and click Check status. When the records are visible, the tag turns into Verified and you see "Domain verified - campaigns can now be sent from it." If they are not visible yet, the message is "Not verified yet. DNS changes can take up to an hour to propagate." Until the domain is verified, campaigns keep going out from the Zanfia address.

5

Decide about system emails

Once the default domain is verified, the switch Send customer emails from this domain too appears. When it is on, purchase confirmations, access links, reminders and community notifications leave from your address instead of the Zanfia one. Replies still reach your contact email.

Statuses

TagMeaning
Waiting for DNSThe records are not visible yet. Add them and click Check status.
VerifiedThe domain is ready. Campaigns can be sent from any address on it.
Temporary DNS problemThe records could not be read this time. Check again later.
Verification failedThe records did not verify. Compare them with the table and correct them at your provider.

After verification the record table collapses into DNS records (published and verified), so you can open it again whenever you need the values.

More than one domain

You can add up to 5 sending domains with Add another domain. One of them carries the Default tag; Set as default moves it. The default domain's address is the one suggested in new campaigns and the one used for system emails. Change address edits the part before the @ of a verified domain.

Delete removes a domain after the confirmation "Remove this domain? Campaigns using it will be sent from the Zanfia domain instead."

Good to know

Use a subdomain such as mail.yourdomain.com: it keeps the email reputation of your main domain separate. If a campaign's From address points at a domain that is not verified at send time, the checklist warns Sender address not verified and the campaign is sent from the Zanfia address instead. The sending domain is separate from your site domain, which is set in the upper part of the same Domains tab.
