Set an offer deadline
Give a checkout an end date with a live countdown, and choose what customers see after the deadline: a waiting list, another checkout, a redirect or a closed notice.
An offer deadline closes a checkout at a set date and time. Until then customers see a countdown; afterwards the checkout can no longer be bought and you decide what happens instead. When you finish, your launch or promo checkout closes on time by itself.
Set the deadline
Find the Offer deadline section
Open the checkout in Offers → Checkouts (/checkouts/<id>). On the Basics tab scroll
to Offer deadline and turn on Offer ends at a set time. A date and time picker Ends
at appears.
Pick the end date
Choose the date and time. If you pick a moment in the past, a hint says **This date is in the past
- the offer closes immediately after saving.** The preview on the right shows a bar at the top of the checkout: This offer ends in followed by a live countdown.
Choose what happens after the deadline
Click Advanced options to open After the deadline passes and pick one:
| Option | What the customer sees after the deadline |
|---|---|
| Collect emails for a waiting list | This offer has ended with an email field and Notify me. Sign-ups are listed for you in this section. |
| Point buyers to another checkout | This offer has ended with See the current offer, which opens the Fallback checkout you pick (for example the standard-price checkout). |
| Redirect to a custom URL | The customer is sent straight to the Redirect URL you enter and never sees the checkout. |
| Show "this offer has ended" | A plain This offer has ended notice, no email field, no button. |
The waiting-list option is selected by default. Point buyers to another checkout is grayed out with This product has no other checkouts yet. until the product has a second checkout.
Banner, saving and the waiting list
Style or hide the countdown banner
Also under Advanced options, Show a countdown banner on the checkout is on by default. You can set the Banner style (Full or Minimal), its Size, Timer only mode, your own Banner text with the countdown token, and custom banner colors. Turning the banner off hides the countdown but does not remove the deadline: the checkout still closes on time.
Save
Click Save changes (or Publish checkout for a draft). The public page picks the change up within seconds. If the customer keeps the page open when the deadline passes, the ended notice appears by itself, without a reload.
Use the waiting list
When the deadline has passed with the waiting-list option, the Offer deadline section shows how many people signed up (for example 1 person is on the waiting list.) with Copy emails and Show emails. When you turn the deadline off again to reopen the offer, the list stays with a reminder to let those people know.
Good to know
The deadline is enforced on the page and on the purchase itself, so a buyer cannot pay after the end time even with an old tab open. The editor preview never blocks you; it shows the gray This offer has ended bar instead. Turn Offer ends at a set time off and save to return the checkout to normal.
