Your members in the app: chat formatting, thread replies and certificates

In the mobile app your members now get formatting and channel links in chat, notifications for thread replies, files from messages and certificate claims, as in the portal.

Your members now get these in the mobile app for iPhone and Android, not only in the portal in their browser. Everything below works in both places; the one exception is noted under files.

  • New Formatting in chat and threads. Messages in chat, in threads and in private messages show bold, italics, strikethrough, lists, links and @mentions. The message field grows with the text, and in the comments under a post a member can also answer a reply with Reply, in the same thread.
  • New Channel links. Type # in a post, a comment or chat and pick a channel from the list. The channel name is a link only for people who can open that channel; everyone else sees just the name.
  • Improved A notification opens the message. The e-mail, bell item and push for a mention, and the bell item for a thread reply, open that message scrolled into view and highlighted, with a thread reply shown right in its open thread.
  • New Replies in threads and to lesson questions. When someone replies in a chat thread a member started or wrote in, the member gets a bell item and a push, with no e-mail. The Replies in threads I write in setting is on by default, and a member mutes a single thread with Mute this thread. An answer to a lesson question arrives on the phone as a push that opens the lesson's Questions tab. Learn more
  • Improved Embeds in posts. A pasted embed, for example a Spotify player, plays in the post in the app too, instead of showing its code.
  • Improved Read or unread. A member marks any single notification as read or unread in the app as well: press and hold it in the list. A tap opens the notification first and only then marks it as read.
  • New Files in messages. Members send PDF, Word, Excel and PowerPoint files, up to 20 MB each, in private messages and in the conversation with your team. Sending a file works in the browser, and in the app a file in a private message opens with one tap. You see files from your customers under Customers → Inbox → Direct messages.
  • New Claim a certificate in the app. A certificate that waits for the student's details can be claimed in the app: My certificates shows a Ready to claim section, and once the student enters their name, date and place of birth, the PDF is ready at once.
  • Improved Product descriptions without symbols. The product list and the product header in the app show a short excerpt of the description as plain text, without formatting symbols, like the tiles in the portal.
